I undertook my medical degree at Deakin University, completing studies and clinical training in rural Victoria before working as a general hospital doctor in Bendigo prior to starting specialist training.
I went onto complete a Master’s degree in Psychiatry at The University of Melbourne during this time, and competed my specialist training (FRANZCP) in Geelong, including a secondment as a senior medical registrar as part of advanced training in the psychiatry of old age.
Throughout this role I gained significant expertise in acute care medicine, neuropsychiatry and dementia in addition to my general psychiatric work.
My research and clinical interests encompass a variety of areas and include expertise in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD and eating/body image disorders, with further strong interests in neuropsychiatry, psychogeriatrics and medical comorbidity.
Along side my psychiatry practice, I also practice regularly as a pre-hospital Doctor with St John Ambulance, providing emergency/acute medical support at major state and national level events. Additionally, I have an appointment as an Officer (Captain) in The Australian Army Reserve.
I am continually updating my knowledge and skills and also enjoy staying on top of many exciting research developments. Having always lived in in the country, I am delighted to be able to contribute to the health of our rural, regional and remote towns across Australia.
